In Japan, from basically a one party rule since the US occupation, we finally voted in a new party (lets call them the Demoblicans, challenging the well-established Republicrats). Unfortunately, similar to how Barak Obama's sensational rise to power has fallen quite short in action, Japan has seen a similar short-fall in their hopeful new party's performance. All the more evidence that you need to change the system for real change. Both cases, you can appreciate how much influence large corporations have, especially the financial sector and energy sectors. Big Media also is also a key player in this tragic spectacle of the rich robbing the 99%. They're so good at it!
Anyways, a powerful Green Party could be effective, since it is designed very differently from other political parties (as far as I can understand). It is for instance, a globally networked alliance and they're organized around the principles of social justice, participatory democracy, nonviolence, sustainability, and respect for diversity. Bam!!!
Isn't that what we all want? Well, unless you want to be really wealthy.
Germany seems to be the most successful of the Green Parties.
