Fruits at the Bullocks

Life at the Bullocks is shockingly different from my life in Tokyo.
Food, specifically fruits, is one such difference.

The following are the fruits I ate the first full day at the Bullocks.
Fantastically delicious,
and as fresh as it gets!
1 second from plant to mouth.
Much more dynamic flavor profile than what I experience in Japan.
Tis the season for fruit abundance.

Himalayan Blackberry (infamous West Coast "invasive" species)

Damson plum harvest at a neighbor's orchard.
Not impressive as a fresh eating fruit,
but fantastic in jams and as wine.

Time to get serious.
We climbed into the trees and shook the branches like the wild animals that we are.
It was quite the scene.
Let it rain!

The bounty.

Italian prune plum.

Some kind of plum

Summer Red apples.
A farm favorite.

Dessert King fig.
They melt in your mouth when they are ripe.

What a weird looking fig!
Looks like......

Red raspberries

Far Field garden mystery apple
Nobody seems to know what it is,
but we agree its a damn good apple.

Golden Raspberries

Gravenstein apple

A path full of snack fruit trees (most of the fruit has already been picked).
In this picture you can spot, several varieties of gooseberries, shipova, cherry, gingko, shiro plum, yellow egg plum (supa good), vitah plum, reina claud conducta plum, and a Bosc pear.
This is just one spot among several acres.

Well, the fruits and physical environment are truly impressive at the Bullocks,
but what really draws me back here is the people, the culture.

Here is a picture from our lunch during the Fall nursery sale we just had.

A beautiful mix of residents, former and current interns, guests,
and delightful babies and kids.
I love little people!
And I love hippie scenes like this.

What a special place this is!
