Apple Guild

ダグの家の近くの林檎の木を中心に考えられたキルドです。
Guildとは共生する植物の連合体みたいなもで、畝と違って数種類の植物を「島」の様に植えます。この場合、林檎の木の周りには、コンフリー（機能：薬草、雑草を抑える（マルチ）、長い根っこであらゆるミネラルを集める（Dynamic Accumulator)、など）、チューリップ（機能：美しさ）、ともう一つお花があります。ブロックスファームの他のところの林檎の木の周りには、ある種の菌と協力し窒素を固定する植物も植えられています。ここの場合は大抵お花がきれいで種のできない、フレンチブルーム(French Broom)やスコッチブルーム（Scotch Broom) を使っています。でも、ダグはなるべく時間をかけずにすんで、見た目がきれいな組み合わせが好きだから、シンプルにコンフリーとに種類のお花だけにしています。チューリップが年々衰えないのはコンフリーのおかげだそうです。なかなか賢いですね。

Here is a simple apple tree guild near Doug's house. It consists of comfrey (weed suppressant/mulch, medicinal herb, and dynamic accumulator), tulips (aesthetics, and ?), and one other flower that I forgot the name of. Simple. A lot of the other guilds at the homestead include a nitrogen fixer like French or Scotch Broom, now infamous as an invasive species, but the ones they plant are sterile (aka seedless) and are very beautiful. The idea with this guild is to have very little need for upkeep/maintenance. Comfrey keeps the weeds down and the rest just stay in their place. Doug mentioned that the tulips stay healthy because of the comfrey. Quite impressive.
